Transhumanism: Societal Revolution
Trans servicemanism Societal RevolutionKrishtina AmatyaThis report will consider the ways transhumanism will revolutionize society whether that be via bionic man integration, life-time extension, or the mark, and how ethics dictates a spile of what happens in scientific fields of research. Technology much(prenominal) as prosthetic limbs, telomerase expression and CRISPR-Cas9 will be explored and discussed, as well as the morality back tooth the advancements of biotechnology and what it could mean in terms of classism. This research was supported by Dekkel Simmons and Andre Mostert, Centre for Innovation way and Enterprise, University of East London.Society is constantly changing with the inventions of new technologies that impact the way homo interact with each other and communicate, as well as how they go about their daily lives. Transhumanist theory dictates that the only way for the human race to evolve and move on from our current societal state is by transforming the human condition so often so as to create an era of post-humans beings whose basic vital capacities exceed those of present humans by so much that they squirt no longer be classified as humans by current standards. DS1This report is going to delve into future of transhumanism (H+) such as its effects on biotechnology, life extension, and the introduction of the singularity. This report is based off of only secondary data methods of obtaining this data includes critiquing texts, piecing through yetts/incidents, using documents such as online journals and articles, and analysing official data in order to draw conclusions. This means that there is no need for a research budget as no main(a) data needs to be collected.DS2The first known use of the term Singularity in this context was by John von Neumann in 1958 when utterance with Stanislaw Ulam they made note of how the progress of technology was accelerating, constantly changing human life (Dvorsky, 2010). Now, nearly 60 courses later, this is even more app bent and germane(predicate) in day-to-day life the majority of the great unwashed carry smartphones in their pockets all day, thinking it impossible to leave the house without them. However, the concept of the singularity itself is to a great extent disputed amidst technological luminaries and is considered controversial when it comes to its plausibility. Professor of Psychology at Harvard, Steven Pinker, does not believe the singularity will ever occur, stating that there is no movement to even believe such an event should take place (Pinker, 2008), whereas Vernor Vinge, Professor of Mathematics at San Diego State University, believes that the singularity will occur soon, before the year 2030, and that once it does, itll be the rise of humankind (Vinge, 1993).Whilst it is interesting to read discussions on others views on the singularity, it is important to approach it from an unbiased frame of reference its practicality must be considered as well as the current advances that are being made in that area of study and the directions theyre going. Current evidence in favour of the singularity includes a woman, uncap up to(p) to use her arms and legs, who is able to control a prosthetic arm with just her mind via two chips being implanted straight off onto the neurons in her brain (Stibel, 2015). This shows how if a woman who is unable to move herself can move another object, surely someday humans themselves will be able to merge with technology and AI in order to plough post humans, triggering the start of what is currently known as the singularity. The process of developing the idea that humans will one day be able to merge with computers is already underway. Although the ability to implant chips into ones brain is a risky and arduous one, as it does convey intricate brain surgery, there are currently many brainwave sensors being developed that can be used outside of the skull helmets that allow you to interact with and manipulate virtual realism in video games, sleep monitoring headbands, and caps that measure the alertness of a driver. These inventions could lead to things like implantable nanochips that would give humans approach to centuries worth of data. At the moment, however, the human beings are perhaps slowly edging towards becoming cyborgs what with about 59,000 people having received some type of neurological prosthetics since 2002 such as eye glasses, cochlear implants, pace makers, heart valves, and artificial limbs (University of Adelaide, 2016).Alongside the medical benefits of humans slowly turning into cyborgs comes the possible consequences of such technology. The divide between the rich and the poor could substantially increase as those with more money would easily enhance their soulal attributes to their hearts desires as a more progress form of plastic surgery whilst those without money continue to suffer from plague and hunger. Another consequence would be the inevitable use within the military in order to engineer super-soldiers with faster reflexes, better accuracy, and improved resistance to fatigue and hunger. Although this type of soldier seems ideal, theres nothing stopping these soldiers from turning on their creators who have, in turn, become their inferiors. (Mizrach, 2001)The main argument against cyborg technology is the potential risk towards human health and safety in regards to the actual merging of human and machine. For example, although there are high hopes when it comes to implanting nanochips into the brain, many people doubt that this will be possible due to the human nervous systems inability to regenerate so will about likely not be able to accept the chip within its system (Mizrach, 2001). It is besides plausible to marvel whether the human body will even accept the chip and whether itll have any adverse reactions to it. There have been many times when this has been the case such as during the 1960s when pregnant mothers were habitua ted thalidomide in order to treat morning sickness. This resulted in the babies being born with multiple limb deformities (Cullen, 1964). Although this is an extreme case of the human body reacting with technology, it still calls into question the safety of modern technology. One of the main goals of the transhumanist movement is the ability to acquire superlongevity. There are currently many different theories regarding the means in which this is to be achieved however well-known theories include anti- senescent medicines, stem cell research, and gene therapy. An example of life extension through anti-aging drugs is the possibility of human endothelial cell life extension by using telomerase expression. Expression of the catalytic component of human telomerase, human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), extends the life span of human fibroblasts and retinal pigment epithelial cells beyond senescence (loss of a cells power of division and growth) without causing neoplastic tra nsformation (Yang, et al., 1999).Stem cells aid in the quest for immortality as they can either replicate or differentiate into many cell types. This is useful to replace dead cells, repair damaged organs/cells, regenerate and renew biological functions, and to rejuvenate cells by making them healthier and younger (Cell Malaysia, 2012). However, the use of stem cells has been met with controversy as the main source of stem cells is via human embryos. Many people disagree with the use of embryonic stem cells as it forces them into an ethical dilemma whether to value the person who is using the stems in comparison to the belief that the embryo itself is also a human that the embryos life must also be respected (EuroStemCell, 2015).Gene therapy is the delivery of nucleic acid polymers into a patients cells in the form of a drug to treat disease. A renowned type of gene therapy known as CRISPR-Cas9 has been considered when it comes to life extension as the Cas9 component of the CRISPR ( clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) is a protein that is able to modify DNA. Once CRISPR has been perfected, old cells may never age again as the CRISPR technology allows for scientists to reprogram cellular DNA in order to get release of unfavourable genetic changes (Faloon, et al., 2016).This report has considered the ways transhumanism will revolutionize society whether that be via cyborg integration, life extension, or the singularity, and how ethics does dictate a lot of what happens in scientific fields of research. Technology such as prosthetic limbs, telomerase expression and CRISPR-Cas9 have all been explored and mentioned and discussed, as well as the morality behind the advancements of biotechnology and what it could mean in terms of classism.Transhumanism (H+) an intellectual movement that aims to transform humanity by developing and using sophisticated technology that will be widely available in order to enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capabilities. The Singularity the hypothesis that the invention of artificial superintelligence will trigger runaway technological growth, resulting in drastic changes to human civilization.Biotechnology technology that is developed according to cellular and biomolecular processes that helps to improve the health of the planet and peoples lives.Cyborg a hypothetical person whose physical abilities are advanced beyond normal human capabilities by mechanical elements built into the body.Life Extension the study of slowing down/reversing the processes of aging to extend the average and maximum lifespan.ReferencesCell Malaysia, 2012. Camera Angles And Movement
photographic camera Angles And MovementFilms have evolved over time. Whether it is the shift in techniques or the change in say direction, the development is certainly app arent. Casablanca (1942) is written by Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein, and Howard Koch, directed by Michael Curtiz, and starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. It is considered one of Hollywoods iconic motion-picture shows as it creates a great balance between humor, suspense, and romance. Casablanca is a multi-layered film that belongs to the film noir of the 1940s. Curtizs use of camera angles such us close-ups, point of tidy sum, panning, Wide passs, dolly and tracking creates wonderful movement within the film. These camera shots uphold guide the viewers understanding of the storys development and direct their attention to what is happening. This paper will discuss and further explore the various camera angles and movement techniques that were implement within the film and provide examples on each.At the beginning of the 20th century, according to Borwell D., Thompson K., Staiger J. (1985), Advanced capitalism characterized the economy after World War I. This ikon is applicable to film industry. (p. 320). Studio deliverers that owned sets besides bought theaters, thereby monopolizing the business. Having their actors under several-year extended contracts enabled them to produce a large number of videos yearly. That was known as factory-oriented style of production of film. This movie was set in the Moroccan city of Casablanca but was actually filmed in the Warner Bros Studios. The controllable set allowed Curtiz to manipulate the environment for his own ad vantage, or in other words, to convey the environment he wanted. His use of a variety of camera angles and framing allowed the viewer to be part of the story.Camera angles and shots in the movie helped the viewer foreshadow which path the story is going to take and establish a connection between the characters an d the plot. They also act as a catalyst that motivates a positive response from the viewer while nonicing the development in the story. One of the initial camera techniques implemented in the movie was the close up shot. It occurred at the beginning of the movie, as the police rounded suspects while a man with a mess of papers attempted to escape the word picture. The police ended up dig him to death. Then we see a police officer going down next to the body and pulling give away papers from his pocket. It turns out to be a free France flier which is propaganda for the freedom of France, which establishes the context of the movie. The close-up shot mentioned was utilise to emphasize the use of a specific vantage point, which in this case, is from the point of view of the audience and not the officer.A second and very different close-up shot was utilize at the opening scene of grows caf, where groups of mickle were gambling and making shady deals. Afterwards, a waiter brings a check to an individual (at that point, unknown by the audience) who signs the check with the phrase ok rick, revealing the personal identity of this individual without the use of any dialogue or narration. A repetitive pattern arises in terms of the close up technique the close ups are designed for the audience rather than merely focusing on the characters. Michael Curtiz made sure that the audience was part of the story.Another important camera technique used was the point of view technique, to allow the viewer to both observe the characters and be part of the scene. The placement of the camera plays a huge role in determine what the viewer is looking at. Here, the positioning of the camera at the exact height of the character allows the viewers to be implanted within the scene, making the scene much effective and personalized. Curtiz uses this technique in the movie when rick and Louis are having a conversation about Lazlo coming to Casablanca and his rumored arrival. The pla cement of the camera here, higher up of Louis left shoulder, is critical we get to witness Ricks reaction to the news as well as Louis counter reaction to Ricks reply. The interesting variation Curtiz made on the point of view technique was used as a method of motivation to instigate a reaction from the audience.A panning shot, also one of the major techniques used in shooting the film, is a continuous shot that allows the audience to view the entire environment from one point to another. As Gianetti (2011) mentions that pan shots tend to unify the space and the connectedness of people and objects within that space. However, Curtiz added his own variation to a panning shot. In one scene, Strasser enters Ricks caf as a regular customer. However, to foreshadow an arising conflict between Rick and Strasser, Curtiz allows the camera to pan from Strasser but it stops at Rick. This tension filled shot does not pan around the caf, as to highlight the existence of a conflict between both characters.Michael Curtiz utilizes an establishing wide shot when Rick first meets Lazlo. This type of shot focuses on all individuals sitting at a table. In that scene, when Rick begins speaking to Ilsa, the angle of the shot changes to more of a tighter wide angle shot, indicating that everyone else seated at the table is insignificant in that scene. As in short as the conversation began between Rick and Ilsa, the camera shifts into a close up tight shot on their faces. Here, a close-up shot is used to strengthen the existence of an emotional relationship between the characters. The viewers attention is directed to Rick and Ilsa as the ones driving the action. They seem to be at the center of well-nigh eventsAs for the final scene of the movie, the camerawork used there is an example of great camera movement the same action is shown from different angles before and after the savorless takes off. There is a slower tracking (dolly) shot as the plane starts to move preparing to fly. Finally, there is dolly movement as the plane flies above Rick and Louis and we see it in the air. The last scene with the tracking and dolly shots of the plane emphasize its stature, as its the only way to escape as its fetching Ilsa and Lazlo to freedom. The closing scene as Rick and Louis walkaway, as Kolker (2011) mentioned the closing scene as the camera dollys out and smoke appears behind the characters that is one of the most memorable endings in movie history.Camera angles were not only used to reveal different relationships between people or to direct the viewers attention. They were also used to convey the importance of certain symbols and objects of a significant presence in the movie. When Lazlo met at the bar with a man who was trying to sell him a ring, a close-up on the ring showed a double cross symbol on it which stood for Joan of Arc, a symbol for France. On another note, an important object in the movie was Sams piano. In addition to the placement of the pia no at the center of the caf, guests seemed to always want to be near it. It created a fun mood that took away their worries. It is also a symbol for Ricks love for Ilsa. The piano seems to always be present in the frame when a wide shot was taken of Ricks caf or when Rick are having flashbacks of him and Ilsa in Paris. A wide shot of the spotlight reinforces its symbolism as people are being watched all the time.According to Keaney (2003), Casablanca is a unquestionable American masterpiece of romance, mystery, and intrigue, with Boghart and Bergman at its center as the star crossed lovers and Henried as the unselfish patriot (p. 77), Casablanca is a melodrama during World War II where everything in the world is changing, including technique and style. The film takes place before the US chose a side in the war and prior to Pearl Harbor. In fact, the studio did not expect the film to be a huge success. However, on the contrary, Casablanca is one of the most iconic films in American history. The wide range of camera angles and shooting techniques Curtiz used only added to its success, involving the viewers in the movie and constantly attracting their attention. He created context using close ups, in addition to taking into consideration the audiences vantage point as a key element. He used the point-of view technique that allows the audience to be part of the scene as well as observe the reactions of the characters involved in the scene. He used a panning shot in order to indicate a change in action. An establishing wide shot used in the movie was then changed it into a tighter frame to emphasize the idea that Ilsa and Rick are always at the center of events. The final scene of the film using the dolly movement to emphasize the stature of the plane and what it stands for. Focusing on the camera angles and shots creates a variety of movements as the story develops.

Advertising Creativity And Communications Marketing Essay
Advertising Creativity And Communications Marketing EssayThis essay will first attain the publicizing benefits for the go with and why companies do announce with regard to some credible authors of marketing books. Secondly, it will investigate the strong vexs based on legal opinion supposition with the serve up of divers(prenominal) examples from UK denote market. Next, it will examine the ATRN type of Ehrenberg based on reinforcement. Finally, this essay will present a view that the companies atomic number 18 using different strong and faltering models to attract the audience to buy their increases. In this modern era of technology humanityy companies using tool of advertising to aw be the guests about the features of their yields and services. The advertising is a form of creating and sending a message to certain tar signed population and hoping for their reaction towards your growth. Historically the producers developed a product and then advertise it to find the market for the product but in todays world the product is specially design with the customer interest (Wells et al, 2006). In the new-fangled past, the marketing concept has increased dramatically. The companies ar started putting huge amount of budgets into advertising to produce high take ins for their organization. The advertising particularly helps to require cognisance beca utilise stack do not buy those products they have never heard of them before. The advertising is actually important for new products to launch them into segmented market. The relationship mingled with the customer and the company need to be build up by the help of good advertising (Farbey, 2002). Globalization made the companies to expand their businesses into different markets close to them. This fact has increased the competition among the competitors. In this competitive world, it is made compulsory for the company to advertise and protect themselves from the primary competition (Wells et al, 2006). Advertising is only as strong as the product and service because you poop only sell poor product at once time but to sell it for twice you have to speak truth with your customers. The effective campaigns are making customers more loyal to the company. Advertising fucking be a strong or ill-defined force for the company (Farbey, 2002).The bulletproof theory and models are based on persuasion and on the other hand the weak theory is based on reinforcement. Persuasion is a dish which includes changing of attitudes and manipulated the thoughts of customers to change their believes and habits (Health, 2007). There are two types of persuasion, Rational and Emotional persuasion. Rational persuasion is about explaining the benefits, advantages, likeness and different incentives where as emotional persuasion has the same features but it can crap a strong relationship and acquit brand most successful. When the result pay back to calculate the efficiency of them then its ver y hard to evaluate the effectiveness of emotional as compare to rational persuasion (Health, 2006).The strong school of advertising really focuses on the effectiveness of advertising. The effective advertising helps the company to grow its sales very rapidly. Short term advertising campaign is more effective then the long term. The most important feature of short term advertising is that it tells the company to go with the campaign in long run or to leave it because it will not have a further effect on the sales (Jones, 2003). Not every campaign has an effective outcome on its sales. About 70% of all the campaign raises the sales immediately and on the other hand 46% of long term campaigns have a comport impact on the sales (Jones, 1998).Strong school of advertising models include AIDA ( maintenance, Interest, Desire, Action), DAGMAR (Un aware(p)ness, awareness, Comprehension, Conviction, Action), Hierarchy of effects (Awareness, Knowledge, Liking, Preference, Conviction, Purchase) and Elaboration Likelihood Model. The AIDA model was designed by St. Elmo Lewis (1898) and Strong (1925). This model used especially for the personal dealing but later on it was adopted as a communication process between the company and its customers (Yeshin, 2006). It consists of four steps Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. Its very important for the company to get the attention of the customer so that the other three steps should be taken by the customer. The main issue for the company is to know its own benefits and then tell the customers with different attractive words or phrases to get their attention (Johnston, 2009). Attention can built the interest and make appetite for the product. By giving more and more true information of the product the interest can be generated (Brewer, 2010). The desire only be created by showing the actual picture to the customer and make him or her desire for the product. The product features can make the man go mad for the product and ind ulge in the step of fetching quick action (Johnston, 2009).There are many adverts these days for the customers to get their attention towards the product. Apple is a very famous company in making electronic products such as Iphones, Ipods, Macbooks and now the Ipads. The Ipad is specially made for the customers to access their emails, scout videos, downloads pictures and listen to songs. Before launching Ipad the company really wanted to grab the attention of their customers. They used their bladesite to attract the customers for example if anyone opens the web page then he gets a welcoming message of the new product of Apple. The picture of Ipad is shown below which was advertised on www.apple.com (Lazaris, 2010).CUsersfazal ranaDesktopipad.jpgSource APPLE WEBSITE (2010) compute 1 IPAD IMAGESThis is a very good example of how picture can get customers attention. This sort of pictures can create an interest for the customers. Apple gave the enough knowledge on their website to c reate certain interest for the customers. Java script switchers and image sliders are very famous nowadays. The image shows that you can access the email and the save pictures at a same time. Considering the example of the Ipad, the aesthetics and accessibility feature of the product should not only be provided to induce the desire of attainability but also to facilities the substance abuser and to give an even better maneuverability of the device for a comfortable and more passionate experience (Lazaris, 2010). The campaign ran very well done web page and indulges the customers to take action and buy the Ipad.Hierarchical model only deals with the individual response and the effect resulted by the advertisement (East, 2003). The advertising process model was developed by Robert Lavidge and Gary Steiner in 1961 that has some points difference from AIDA model. The main implication of this model is that, if any one of all stages missed out then the desire outcome will not be achieved . The first stage is to get aware the customer about the product by the help of advertising. Secondly, he or she should provide with all the information about the product so that the process of likeness can be built on its own. The following step is to create preference of the product among the other product with same qualities. The next step is conviction which includes making decision to purchase the advertised product. If all of the steps are effectively put in by the company or the advertising agency then its not difficult to make customer buy for the product (Yeshin, 2006).As can be seen from an old advert of Ariel (YouTube, 2008) which delivered an idea of Lavidge and Steiner model, this advert gives a good example of Hierarchy of effect model. By emphasizing on the problem of stain clothes the company creates awareness and gives us the problem of removing these stains which is not possible to be through with(p) by other ordinary liquids. By performing a simple experiment of comparing Ariel liquid by other liquids the company has induced a liking effect among the audience. The better results of the product would generate a preference among people whereas convincing them that if this product is selected and used it would give out better results than other product which are already functional in the market. By using such a method the company leaves the audience with an inclined desire to purchase the product and try it at least(prenominal) for once which resulted in a number of sales for the product. In early 1960s, Russell Colley developed a model with the name of DAGMAR (Colleys hierarchy of effects) model. This model aimed to quantify the process of communication (Yeshin, 2006). The stages of this model are Unawareness, Awareness, Comprehension, Conviction and Action. This model emphasized a lot on creating higher number of sales by the help of awareness. The customer must be aware of the product and the company. He must have the comprehension or know ledge that what the product is about and how the product can help him (Joyce, 1998 in Jones, 1998). Thirdly, convincing the customer by telling him benefits of the product. Lastly, for the action you have to depend on the customer. However, your previous actions will have a major subroutine to play (George, 2006). This model is mainly use to define advertising goals and measure the effectiveness of the campaign. Effective advertising can take the audience down to the flair of awareness, comprehension and conviction to take the final action (East, 2003).Indian premier league (IPL) is becoming very famous these days among all the ages who love to keep abreast cricket. These days the third season of IPL cricket is going on. IPL has recently signed a contract with ITV for live broadcasting of every match especially for UK fans. To get aware the people the ITV is advertising on TV and Internet. Recently, on 11 March 2010 ITV king cricket website showed an advert about the ceremonial the matches of IPL on everyday TV without paying any money. The targeted audience is students who can overtake matches in the afternoon by sitting at their homes. As ITV is a famous carry for UK audience so there is not much need for the comprehension about the channel. The conviction has done by telling the major benefit of watching the match without paying (King Cricket, 2010).The Elaboration Likelihood Model was developed in 1980 by Richard E Petty and John T Cacioppo. This model addresses the interest of the individuals and changing habits of individuals behavior. The company tries to develop the positive behavior of the individual customers towards their offerings. There are two routes in this model of persuasion. The first route is the central processing route which provides the information with high level of motivation and the customer can asses to the core features of the persuasive message. This stage helps very much in making the effective decision. The other route is peripheral route which is about giving different cues to the customer and can involve personal selling as well. The outcome of attitudes forming with this method is little effective as compare to the first one (Eckert and Goldsby, 1997).Infomercials are the best example of giving information to the customer through central processing route. As can be seen from wearable towel infomercial (YouTube, 2009), the information about the product has been given to the audience to know about the product for example, how easily you can wear it as compare to the other towels which are already available in the market. Secondly, the advert provides the advantages of wearing the towel and different ways of wearing it. The individuals do not have much time in watching the whole infomercial so its better for the company to use peripheral route for the advertising. The weak theory is based on the reinforcement or repurchases habit of customer. The ATR model was proposed in 1974 by Ehrenberg which incl udes Awareness, Trail and Reinforcement (Hoek et al, 2000). Ehrenberg rejected the persuasion models and argues that the step of taking action in persuasion model is not supported by the empirical evidence (Yeshin, 2006). This model actually tells about the reinforcement in the customer current behavior patterns. The empirical generalization describes as the relationship between the consumer perception and beliefs about the brands and their behavior with respect to those brands (Hoek et al, 2000). In 1997 the model was refined by Barnard and Ehrenberg and they put another step of nudge after the reinforcement (Hoek et al, 2000). The first step of ATRN model is about Awareness of the product. The awareness can be done by different forms of advertising for example promotions, media adverts, word of mouth, direct marketing and so on. For the brand which is already available in the market to buy, the customer already has the knowledge of the product and its specifications. For the new p roducts awareness is very important so that the customer should know about the product. After the awareness the customer straight make a decision of buying the product and get him in the stage of trail (Yeshin, 2006).The ATR model specially focuses on the long term relationship of the customer with the company and the customer can only buy the product if he has believe in the product or if he tried it before. The managers are very willing to use ATR model these days to make the use of behavioral goals and to create a long term relationship (Hoek and Janet, 1999). The adverts are mostly for those people who already have the product. Majority of the people use to see and concentrate on the adverts of those brands which they are using or used it before in their lives. In new markets, the image of product and awareness has to be built but on the other hand in mature markets the adverts are mainly use to retain the customers. The customers do not have any interest in changing their brand s and they are willing to stuck themselves to limited brands(East,2003).CUsersfazal ranaDesktopTradeAdverts_kit kat caramel.jpgSource GOOGLE Images (2010)Figure 2 KitKat AdvertsThis advert is especially for those customers who have already tried different flavors of KitKat. The advert is actually for the new flavor of Chunky Caramel KitKat. The packaging is a designed to aware the customer so that he can answer himself what taste is going to de inside? The company spent around 7 jillion pounds on the advertising campaign (Frewin, 2009). Kitkat is announced as a bestselling chocolate bar of year 2009. The reinforcement to buy the product made the huge profit for the company. The sales have risen to 13% of the last year (Laycoak, 2010).Scholten (1996) has stated that the traditional models of hierarchy of effect paradigm have two major issues to criticize. Firstly, it cannot inquiry about the market situation to deliver their message. Secondly, the campaign is run to a specific grou p of people which are targeted. The ATR model focuses on the behavior, brand awareness, attempt purchase and repurchase if the customer is satisfied and willing to buy it again. On the other hand, traditional models do emphasize on the effectiveness of advertising by getting a regular response up to a particular stage in hierarchy (Scholten, 1996).This essay has explored the difference between strong theory and weak theory with the help of different example which has taken from the UK advertising market. It has been found that the use of strong theory based on persuasion can really help the company to grow its business globally by giving information about their organization and the product. The communication process by persuasion is specially for those companies which are diverting the business line to the different countries and those who are new in different businesses so that they can aware the audience. The communication through ELM model can be very expensive for low budget ad vertising campaigns but on the other hand it can be very effective for big marketers to give maximum information to the individuals or give some cues by hiring celebrities. Furthermore, the ATR model can be helpful for those companies which are willing to advertise in the same market where they are performing their current businesses. However, the company should have some competitive advantages for new market openings which really help them to get successful in the stage of trail. Submarines in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars Essay -- American Ameri
Submarines in the Revolutionary and civil WarsThe Trident Submarine houses twenty-four nuclear warheads with each having a enjoin of 4,600 miles over land. If a nuclear war were to break out between the Soviet Union and the United States, virtually every major city could be destroyed in a matter of hours. The origin of these major players in modern day warfare lies in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. A Dutchman named Cornelus van Drebbel, made the very first submarine in 1652, to fight the mighty Spanish ship called the Rotterdam Boat. It carried about twelve oarsmen and even had an air circulator. It never power saw any action. In the American Revolutionary War, a manned underwater craft named the American Turtle (or the water- railway car) was used against the British Navy. David Brushnell designed this ingenious machine in 1771. The submarine was a one manned, egg-shaped vessel which was propelled by hand-operated screw-like devices. It was bottom-heavy in order for it to rem ain upright. The street girl would plant a submergible mine that could be triggered by a simple clockwork mechanism. He could paddle away after he attached the magazine of gunpowder onto the enemy ship. The operator could stay under for about thirty minutes The American Turtle was ready for her initial mission on September 6, 1776, just after midnight in the New York Harbor. The operator, Ezra Lee, failed in his attempt to drop down the HMS Eagle because he failed to secure the screw of the gunpowder magazine to the ship. The Turtle made two more attempts to sink enemy ships but they both failed. The end of the American Turtle is unknown. Some think she was accidentally sunk, dismantled, or destroyed. The Turtle was the very first submarine to be used in the... ...come of the Revolutionary War. The submarines in the Civil War were very unimportant as well. Only one ship, the Housatonic, was sunk by the hands of a submarine in the entire war. The Southern navy did not even put mu ch stock into submarine warfare because they only built a couple during the entire war. So overall, submarines were of no significance during either the Revolutionary War or the Civil War. But, these early developments of the submarine were extremely important because they precede to the later more advanced submarines that were used in future wars in which they did play a major role in. For example, in World War II, German U-boats terrorized the sea and played an important role in World War II. These, and others like the modern day Tridents, would not of exist if it were not for the early developments of submarines during the Civil and Revolutionary Wars.

Critical Analysis of The Indifferent by John Donne Essay -- Indifferen
Critical Analysis of The Indifferent by John DonneThe Indifferent by John Donne is a relatively simple(a) love poem incomparison to his other, more complicated works. In this poem, he presents alover who regards constancy as a vice and promiscuity as the path of virtueand good sense (Hunt 3). Because of Donnes Christian background, this poemwas obviously meant to be a comical look at values that were opposite the onesheld by Christians. According to Clay Hunt, The Indifferent is probablyquite an early poem because of the simplicity and obviousness of its literarymethods, its untroubled gaiety, and its pose of libertinism, which all suggestthat Donne wrote the poem when he was a young man about town in ElizabethanLondon (1-2). The poem mocks the Petrarchan doctrine of eternal faithfulness, putting in its place the anti-morality which argues that constancy is a heresyand that Loves sweetest part is variety (Cruttwell 153). The first bothstanzas of the poem seem to be the speaker talki ng to an reference of people, while the last one looks back and refers to the first two stanzas as a song. The audience to which this poem was intended is very important because it jakesdrastically change the meaning of the poem, and has therefore been debated amongthe critics. While most critics believe that the audience changes from men, towomen, thencece to a single woman, or something along those lines, Gregory Machacekbelieves that the audience remains throughout the poem as two women who havediscovered that they are twain lovers of the speaker and have confronted himconcerning his infidelity (1). His strongest argument is that when thespeaker says, I can love her, and her, and you and you, he first points outtwo random nearby women for her, and her, then at the two that he is talkingto for you and you.The first stanza begins rather simply. Donne starts every line witheither I can love or Her who. According to Hunt, the smack of the firststanza goes from weary and patient en treaty to a climax of irritation at theend (4) in the lines I can love her, and her, and you and you / I can love any,so she be not true. The first eight lines simply list opposite character types, but the last two lines go to her, and her, and you and you, then to any, justbefore Donne springs the sho... ...hold.This poem presents a speaker that holds morals opposite the onesaccepted by the greater part of society. While this poem is not fantasticallycomplicated, it is very interesting to see how Donne spends the first 25 linesof the poem building up a convincing argument, then completely rebutting it inthe final two lines. He refers to promiscuity as a vice and constancy as avirtue, using many sexual references to help illustrate his points. Donnesuccessfully creates a character in a simple love poem that believes that thereis nothing more to love than lust, and then uses his point of view to portray aportrait of love that is completely opposite of what Donne wants the reader toge t from the poem.Works CitedCruttwell, Patrick. Free College Essays - Analysis of William Shakespeares Sonnet 19
William Shakespeare is considered to be one of the around signifi firet English poets and dramatists of all time. Shakespeare is credited with writing 36-38 dramatic works and many sonnets. In most of the sonnets the form is of three separate quatrains and a closing couplet for emotional and dramatic climax. Some sonnets seem open and intercommunicate to the world. Others are too abstruse and personal to be intelligible. Sonnets 18-125 deal gradually with many themes associate with a handsome young man. The poet enjoys his friendship and promises to immortalize him through his poems. Sonnet 19 is addressed to time and is dedicated to a very special friend. The Outsider By Albert Camus V :: essays research papers
The Priest(Kafka vs Camus)The Outsider, written by Albert Camus, and The Trial, written by Franz Kafka, atomic number 18 two books that have been critically acclaimed since the time that they were published. There are critics that claim that The Outsider is a dull book, and is not even a read-worthy book. Other people claim that it shows us how society actually acts upon people who do not want to be manage the rest of society. The Trial falls under the same kind of criticism but both books, although written by different writers in a different poque, fall under the same kind of genre Imprisoned Lives. In both The Outsider and The Trial on that point are many people who influence the protagonists in a positive and in a negative way, but none of those characters are as chief(prenominal) as the priest. The priest, being of the same profession in both books and trying to accomplish the same kind of tasks, have a totally different lay out on the two protagonists. In The Outsider the priest changes the whole attitude that Meursault has to animation, whereas in The Trial the priest tells Joseph K. how his life actually is."Why do you forswear to see me?" This question was asked by the priest and was meant for Meursault. Normally, if a person is convicted to death, he will see a priest before the sentence is executed. Meursault did not do that. He profusely refused to see the priest and why should he? He "did not believe in god." Meursault did not treat, as he did not care if his mother died, or if someone proposed marriage to him. This of course went totally against the rules and ethics of society, which cannot permit such kind of behaviour. But why does Cams characterize Meursault like that? Why did he create such kind of an outsider to society? Cams created such an outsider because he wanted to show people how life actually is. Society does not accept people who do not bend the truth a little and lie. Society wants to make life as easy as ca n be, making up lies so that everything can run smoothly because truth can hurt sometimes, and Cams admits that. Cams implements the priest not just as another character in the novel, but as a person who wants to tell Meursault how society expects him to behave. Meursault did not want to know how he has to act to make the society happy, as a matter of fact, the priest was "beginning to annoy" him.
